ロスト·イン·トランスレーション

Hi everyone
This time I wanna told you about movies I like, its really hard for me to choose just one film, I like all kind of movies (well, Im not a great fan of horror movies really)... animated movies are really great, specially Hayao Miyazaki films..love the stories, the characteres and feeling like Im a child again. Anyway, this time Im not going to talk about an animated film...I really cant choose my favourite, so Im going to talk about one of my non animated favourites: "Lost in Translation".

This is a Sofia Coppola film from 2003. This is the second movie written and directed by Sofia Coppola after "The virgin suicides" that I actually really like too.
The film is about two strangers who meet in Tokyo. He is an actor called Bob (Bill Murray) and Charlotte is a young wife (Scarlett Johansson). They was in the same hotel and one noght they meet at the bar, they become fast friends and explore Tokyo together. Bob and Charlotte share a similar dissatisfaction with their lives, they are alone in a strange city, so they get closer, its a short but very significant relationship, they are both lost in the japanese culture and meet each other.
What I like about this movie, and about Sofia Coppola style, is the "time" in the movie, seems to be slower, sometimes there is a distance between the story and the viewer, the characters not talk too much, but we know them through other ways. We could know the inner world of Bob and Charlotte through the hotel peaceful life and the crazy city, respectively...through the aesthetics.
There is a lot of things I like about this movie..the plot, the cast, the music. I like how Coppola tell the story and the resources she used. If you like this director I totally recommend this one.

  2. Hello Nina!
I didn' see this film but -like Alejandra says- look very interesting, primarily by movie title because if you live in a world where you can't translate the signs of their civilization that must be very difficult!
    Greetings!
