Marcel Duchamp
I think is really difficult to think in one
favorite artist, I can think in several artists, styles and pieces of art. Whatever,
I can think in one of them, who I think is a great one: Marcel Duchamp. He´s a
XX century artist, known as the father of conceptual art. He also change the
idea of who is the artist, he said that being an artist was an exercise of the
will, not a talent or a result of special preparation. Duchamp breaks with
tradition by introducing everyday objects as pieces of art, opening precisely
the question “What is art?” He use this objects and put it in the art context
(museums, galleries) his most famous work is “The fountain” shows a simple
object signed by an artist, so, is that art? What matter for him was make you
think about it. After each work there is a question, a concept, an idea, and
that was the central issue. He worked in other styles, cubism, Dadaism,
surrealism, but the conceptual art was the work of his life, he developed this
style as a personal project full of mental puzzles, it’s really interesting investigate
this work of Duchamp supported by the theory that give it sense. I think this
is one of the most interesting and important artist of the XX century, hope you
like it too!
The art conceptual is the only form of express a person of an way free...thanks Marcel Duchamp! jajaja
